Court Grants Dasuki Bail

A High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, December 18, 2015 granted bail to the immediate past National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, and four others who are being tried on a 19-count allegations of money laundering and criminal breach of trust over the disbursement of $2.1 billion meant for the execution of the fight against terrorism.

Other accused in the case include Shuaibu Salisu, a former director of finance at the office of the NSA; Aminu Baba Kusa, a former Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and two firms – Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Reference Hospital.

Giving the judgement, Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf granted bail ​to the accused persons ​on the sum of N250 Millionwith the condition that they must produce a surety each who must be a ​serving or retired ​civil servant ​not lower than the rank of a director. The surety must also show possession of a property within the FCT worth the same amount​, the judge ordered.​

Dasuki and other accused were also directed to deposit copies of their ​i​nternational passports with the ​c​ourt registrar​ and were asked to​ notify the court of any travel arrangement outside the FCT.
