50 Cent Files for Bankruptcy, Has Debts in the Millions.
Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today. In a document filed at a Connecticut court, the rapper and mogul lists personal assets and debts in the range of $10 to $50 million. The bankruptcy filing no doubt has something to do with a recent jury ruling ordering 50 Cent to pay a woman $5 million for posting a sex tape of her and making derogatory comments about her in said video. That woman is Lastonia Leviston, mother of Rick Ross's child, and the incident stemmed from a feud between 50 Cent and the other rapper. Earlier in the trial, 50 Cent made another bankruptcy filing for his struggling boxing company, SMS Promotions.
The news of 50 Cent's financial troubles is all the more surprising given his equity stake in Vitaminwater, off which he made $100 million when the brand was sold to Coca-Cola. But as we've learned over the years, celebrities cannot always be depended on to smartly manage their money.
